The user led mental health policy action group MenQual based in Middlesbrough has developed an innovative employment charter in Middlesbrough
The charter creates a pathway for service users and local employers to work together to provide real opportunities for real jobs.
MenQual is the official name of Middlesbrough group and they have supported by MHID with grants, training and mentoring since their inception.
MenQual draws members from all the stakeholder groups in Middlesbrough including carers, local police, social services and Tees, Esk and Wear Valleys NHS Trust. More than half the members have personal experience of using mental health services. The elected co-chairs John Bannister and Ipsi provide service user leadership and expertise.
June 2007 will be the one-year anniversary of the founding of MenQual at the 2006 Middlesbrough Mental Health Open Platform. Members plan to celebrate the achievements of the group with a special workshop and reception.
