October 2005 - MHID launches major new mental health policy project
MHID has begun a major new policy initiative called the Participation and Policy project. Work has commenced in the first pilot site in Tees and North East Yorkshire.
The new initiative is sponsored by Wyeth. MHID will be working in partnership with Tees and North East Yorkshire Mental Health Trust (www.peoplelikeus.nhs.uk) to deliver the activities.
In the coming months there will be a series of training workshops and community participatory events to enable service users and local stakeholders to work together to have a real voice in mental health policy in the UK.
The project offers MHID the opportunity to link innovative grassroots mental health practice from eastern Europe and India with communities in the UK.
