KP visited the mental health policy forum in Kollam District in February 2005 and provided a new stream of financial support for the work. MHID and KP are actively developing a number of new initiatives together including a major international mental health conference in Kovalam in 2006 where expertise between India, eastern Europe and the rest of the world will be shared and learning disseminated.

David Clarke, from the KP board, stated "...working together with MHID enables us to better coordinate our work and ensure the linkages are made between mental health and other policy areas in Kerala...".

Paul Cutler from MHID stated "...we have always been very fortunate to have the support of KP as we began our work in Kerala and we have learnt a lot by working with this organisation. By formalizing our partnership through an MoU we are able to demonstrate transparently to the outside world our ongoing commitment to working together in a cooperative way based on the values we share. Too many international development programmes suffer from inter-organisational competition and it is something we are very keen to avoid by properly coordinating our work with other actors...".
