Ray Rowden
Ray Rowden is a Health Policy analyst and author. Ray is a nurse by
background and has held appointments including Senior Officer, Royal College of Nursing; Director of Nursing Services, The Royal Marsden Hospital; Director, IHSM; Chief Executive, West Lambeth Community and Mental Health NHS Trust and as a Senior Civil Servant in the NHS.
Executive, overseeing forensic mental health services. He has also
served as a member of a number of DOH task forces under different
Secretaries of State.
Ray is a prolific author, with over 350 published articles and writes
regularly for The Guardian, Nursing Times, Public Service Magazine,
Pharmaceutical Marketing, Pharma Field and Community Care.
He is on the editorial boards of the Mens' Health Journal and broadcasts regularly on health issues. He has also served as specialist adviser to the House of Commons Health Select Committee and was Honorary Visiting Professor of Nursing at York University from 1997-2002.
He was awarded an Honorary Doctorate from Kingston University in 1999 for services to nursing and healthcare management.
He is Director of Healthcare Programmes with Gatehouse, a reviewer for CHAI, a director of Mental Health International Development, working with people using mental health services in Central and Eastern Europe and is Vice Chair of the Association for Quality in Healthcare.
Outside healthcare Ray is co-owner and Managing Director of Palmlagoon Resorts Ltd, a resort in Kerala, South India. He also acted as advisor on access and disability to The Royal Opera House from 1983 - 1999. He currently runs the Reach 4 Dance programme at MHID.

Paul Cutler
Paul Cutler is the co-founder and a trustee of Interaction. Formerly he was the Deputy Director of the UK NGO Hamlet Trust where he successfully managed the Pathways to Policy programme. This programme worked with mental health groups in Eastern Europe, the Caucasus, India and Central Asia to develop policy initiatives and reform mental health systems. The local and national policy forums that were established are now independent and essential actors in the policy environment, enabling users and grassroots stakeholders to have a meaningful voice in policy issues. He is a qualified social worker with 17 years experience in mental health, has a Bachelors Degree in Sociology and a Masters Degree in International Development Management. He also has experience of mental health development in Western Europe, East Africa and more recently Cuba. He has published a number of articles in academic journals in the field of policy as well as the book Building for the Future: Making Organisations Stronger and More Effective (2002). He recently set up a new not-for-profit venture called Mental Health International Development (MHID) which works in partnership with Interaction.
