Mental Health International Development Ltd. (MHID) is a not-for-profit social enterprise established in 2004 and registered with Companies House as a private limited not-for-profit company on 10th January 2005.

MHID's approach to mental health is based on social models and participatory approaches that promote community leadership in mental health development. This approach places the expertise and experience of the service user at the core of all initiatives. We work with service user led groups across Eastern Europe, Central Asia, India and in the UK.

MHID's work highlights the diversity of individuals and groups who experience mental health problems. We promote the active participation of women, men, children and young people in the development, management, evaluation and policy outcomes of services and campaigns. MHID also works to ensure that the voice, needs and interests of different groups are valued in terms of their ethnicity, culture, sexuality, disability and urban and rural identities.
